Facebook Publishing Troubleshooting Guide

Facebook Publishing Troubleshooting Guide

Meta is great for attracting leads to your page, so encountering issues with your Facebook publishing can feel overwhelming. Don’t worry, we are here to help. Let’s check the most common fixes for Facebook publishing issues.

Pages Not Showing In The List #

If you cannot see the page you want to connect to, the main reasons are as follows.

Content Permission is Missing #

Your account might be missing the proper connections to the Facebook Page. To verify this is not the case, log in to your Meta Business Suite and access the settings.

Switch to the Pages section and ensure the user has Full Control as their permission level.

Permission Through The Business Manager #

If you have full control in the previously shown section but are still encountering issues, you might be missing Admin access with your account. To verify this, log in to your Facebook profile and switch to the page’s profile from the dropdown menu.

On the left side menu, click Professional Dashboard.

Under Your tools, select Page access.

If your account is not added already, click Add New to grant yourself Facebook access, or ask a user with access to do it for you.

Page Is Missing With Admin Access #

If you have both permission sets but still cannot post to your page, it might be a Business Integration issue. To fix it, log in to your Facebook profile with admin access, navigate to your profile picture icon on the right side, and click on Settings and Privacy.

In the Settings & Privacy options, select Settings.

In the left side menu, locate the Your Activity section and select Business integrations.

Locate the LeadConnector option and click View and edit.

A pop-up will load. If some of the channels are unchecked, you can check them from there. Make sure you have given all the permissions and selected all of your social channels. If they are all selected, we recommend removing the access and reconnecting the integration altogether.

Facebook Post Failed to Publish #

When publishing to Facebook, you might encounter an error saying the content failed to publish. The most common reasons are:

  • Content Deemed Inappropriate: Your message could not be sent because it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive or inappropriate, or it goes against Facebook Community Standards.
  • Error validating access token: The session has been invalidated because the admin changed their password or Facebook changed the session for security reasons. This happens if you have changed your account password or have not made a post to Facebook in the past 90 days from the Social Planner.
  • Two-Factor Authentication: If the business page you are managing has enabled two-factor authentication, enable 2FA at the account level and reconnect your account.
  • manage_permissions must be granted: This means the account used to connect the Facebook page to the Social Planner does not have admin permissions or failed to accept manage_permissions when integrating the account.
  • Missing or Invalid Image: If you have scheduled social media posts and the image’s link is no longer opening, you will get this error for your social post.
  • The URL you supplied is invalid: When your post includes a link, Facebook will index it. When Facebook servers are overloaded, they cannot index it during the request time, resulting in this error. We recommend using a new link or retrying in a few minutes.
