Custom menu links enable users to seamlessly access external web pages directly from within the application via the left sidebar of the Agency and/or Subaccount view. These links can be configured in three ways: opening the page as an embedded iFrame within the app, launching it in a new browser tab, or opening it in the current browser tab, redirecting the user away from the platform. This guide will walk you through all the relevant steps to create custom menu links for enhanced customization options.
Creating a Custom Menu Link #
From the Agency Settings, click the Custom Menu Link option located on the left sidebar.
To create a new custom menu link, click the Create New button on the upper right-hand corner of this page.
A popup modal will appear, prompting you to complete the necessary fields. Start by selecting the icon and title that will appear on the left sidebar, then enter the desired URL in the Link URL field.
Choose how the link should be opened: as an embedded iFrame, in a new tab, or within the current window.
Note: Due to security restrictions, certain websites, including https://www.google.com, cannot be integrated as an iFrame.
Setting Visibility and Permissions #
Next, define the visibility of your custom menu link by choosing to display it on the Agency sidebar, the Sub-Account sidebar, or both. To limit visibility to specific subaccounts, select the desired subaccounts from the dropdown menu.
If you would like to display Custom Menu Links to all but a few sub-accounts, select "All" from the "Select Accounts" dropdown, then choose the sub-accounts you want to exclude.
Additionally, you can restrict access by user type. Together with the Agency/Sub-account and sub-account selection settings, this allows for granular control over the menu’s visibility.
Finally, adjust the Microphone and Camera toggles to set the necessary permissions for your link.
Once all configurations are complete, click the Save button to display your custom menu link according to your selected settings. Now you can customize your platform effectively and enhance its functionality for your users.
Frequently Asked Questions #
What are the three ways a custom menu link can open? #
A custom menu link can open as an embedded iFrame within the app, in a new browser tab, or in the current browser tab, which redirects the user away from the platform.
Why can’t I embed certain websites as an iFrame? #
Due to security restrictions, some websites, such as https://www.google.com, block iFrame embedding and cannot be integrated that way. For those, use the new tab or current window option instead.
Where do custom menu links appear? #
They appear on the left sidebar of the Agency view, the Sub-Account view, or both, depending on the visibility settings you choose.
Can I show a custom menu link to all sub-accounts except a few? #
Yes. Select "All" from the "Select Accounts" dropdown, then choose the specific sub-accounts you want to exclude.
Can I restrict a custom menu link by user type? #
Yes. You can restrict access by user type, which combined with the Agency/Sub-account and sub-account selections gives you granular control over who sees the menu link.
What do the Microphone and Camera toggles do? #
These toggles set the device permissions granted to the linked page, which is useful when the external page requires microphone or camera access to function.
