Gift cards function as a flexible prepaid balance, giving customers a way to purchase store credit for themselves or others and giving you a way to issue funds for loyalty, compensation, refunds, or promotions. Let’s learn how to create one.
Creating a Gift Card #
First, navigate to the Gift Card tab within the Payments section and click Create Gift Card.
- Enter a name for your gift card; this will help you identify your card in the system.
- Add a short description that helps both you and your customers understand the purpose or details of this gift card.
- Enter an Expiry Date if desired; all gift cards issued from this product will expire on this exact date, regardless of when they are purchased.
Select whether you want to include a URL to guide recipients on how to redeem their gift card. If enabling this option, enter or select your desired URL.
Mention any usage restrictions, eligibility rules, or other conditions applicable to this gift card. These will be visible to customers. Then click Continue.
Customizing and Pricing #
Customize your card. You can either create a color gradient or upload your own artwork via your Media Store.
Once you’ve selected your design, enter the values the card can be worth. You can choose from preset values or enter your amount manually.
Control how many gift cards can be sold by checking Define Quantity, then set your inventory.
Depending on your business and compliance needs, enable the Tax option to include automatic tax calculation on gift card sales.
Select a Category for your gift card if needed, then click Continue. Review your gift card, and if you are satisfied, click Create Gift Card.
Once you’ve created your gift cards, you can start selling and issuing them to customers, allowing them to redeem the cards via the Payment Element under any supported checkout and payment provider combination.
